The European Parliament on Wednesday recognized Russia as a “state sponsor of terrorism.” A total of 494 MEPs voted for the relevant resolution, 58 voted against, and 44 abstained. “The deliberate attacks and atrocities carried out by the Russian Federation against the civilian population of Ukraine, the destruction of civilian infrastructure and other serious violations of human rights and international humanitarian law amount to acts of terror,” said the resolution. After the adoption of the resolution, the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, stated that a pro-Kremlin group launched a sophisticated cyberattack on the official website of the European Parliament.
