The nominees for the 2023 Academy Awards were revealed just a short time ago, and as is always the case on Oscar morning, there’s plenty of chatter about which performances and films performed the best, as well as which ones were left wanting.
There were few major surprises in the musical categories this time around, with all five of the Best Original Song nominees having been very much in the conversation…though at least one superstar who many assumed would earn her first nod didn’t end up being included. Taylor Swift was predicted by many to be one of the five potential winners for her cut “Carolina” from the film Where The Crawdads Sing, though tracks penned by the likes of Diane Warren and David Byrne ended up swaying voters instead.
