An investigation of former President Donald Trump and his alleged hush money payment to a porn star is led by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, a Harlem, New York, native who previously served as the state’s chief deputy attorney general, and has been attached to a series of high-profile cases.
Bragg was elected as the Manhattan district attorney over opponent Tali Farhadian Weinstein in 2021 and became the first Black person—and only the fourth person in the last 80 years—to hold the position.
Prior to serving as district attorney, Bragg graduated from Harvard Law School and served as a member of the New York Urban League’s board of directors and the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, two civil rights organizations, according to his website.
